A beautiful day, great food, nice bottle of wine and maybe a little romance…how much better can life get? That's Chef Jacques Haeringer's philosophy – good food, good friends, a relaxing environment and tastes to be savored.
As Chef de Cuisine of the legendary L'Auberge Chez François, Jacques' specialty is reinterpreting Alsatian and French cuisine for American palates. His culinary roots began when his father, Chef François Haeringer, opened a restaurant in Washington, D.C over 52 years ago. Today, L'Auberge Chez François, now located in a picturesque country setting in Northern Virginia, is one of the area's most popular restaurants. Jacques and his staff hold a top spot in Zagat's survey and have won numerous awards, such as AAA's Four Diamonds. The restaurant has been voted Washington, DC's "Most Popular" and "Most Romantic" by readers of Washingtonian Magazine for 22 years.
In addition to serving up classic and contemporary French fare at the restaurant, Jacques can also be found teaching gourmet cooking classes, writing magazine articles, and appearing on television and radio shows across the country. Personal appearances for Thermador, Anheuser-Busch and Adjusters International have Jacques traveling the country to promote his firm belief that "Love Begins in the Kitchen". His articles and recipes have been featured in magazines such as Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Southern Living, and Cooking Light. He is the author of two highly successful cookbooks, The Chez François Cookbook and Two for Tonight, and has hosted his own popular series, Two for Tonight, on PBS, featured in over 170 cities nationwide. |
